A family in Russia’s Tyumen region attracted attention at a polling station after arriving to vote dressed in Spider-Man costumes and carrying a stuffed toy depicting Kolobok, a character from Russian folklore.
The family told Komsomolskaya Pravda that they chose the unusual outfits to lift their own spirits and those of other voters.
“We decided to come as a family and lift our spirits and those of the people around us a little. But seriously, for us, participating in elections is a normal part of life. We make our own decisions and want our child to see that you need to approach your choice thoughtfully and responsibly,” the woman said.
She added that taking part in elections was a normal part of everyday life for her family.
The combination of Spider-Man and Kolobok also comes amid a recent dispute in Russia over the release dates of two films featuring the characters.
The media attention began in August 2026 after the planned release of Spider-Man: A New Day was postponed from August 6 to August 20. The change was recommended by the distribution company Atmosfera Kino and the Association of Movie Theatre Owners to avoid competition with the Russian film The Last Bogatyr. Kolobok.
