The average price of diesel in Switzerland has reached a record 2.41 Swiss francs ($2.9) per litre, according to the Swiss Touring Club (TCS).
The price rose by 11 centimes over the past week, surpassing the previous record of 2.40 francs set in 2022, Le News reports.
Petrol prices also increased, with A-95 rising by five centimes to 2.10 francs ($2.5) per litre. Its record high is 2.31 francs ($2.8).
The TCS attributed the rise to several factors affecting diesel supplies on international markets, including the war in Iran and related disruptions to oil supplies in the Middle East.
It also cited cuts in, and a complete halt to, Russian diesel and petrol exports, as well as logistical problems within Switzerland.
