Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been awarded the Hessian Peace Prize for his efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus.
According to Armenian media, the award was announced in a statement and photograph posted by Pashinyan’s press secretary, Melanya Harutyunyan on her Facebook page.
The Hessian Peace Prize was established on October 16, 1993, by Albert Osswald, a former Prime Minister of the German state of Hesse, together with his foundation.
The prize honours individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to promoting international understanding and peace. Each year, the Hessian Peace Prize Committee selects a recipient, who receives an award of €25,000.
The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) advises the committee on the selection of recipients and documents the award ceremonies.
