Russia has tightened sanitary controls at its borders amid concerns over the potential spread of Ebola, Anna Popova, head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor), stated.

Popova said passengers arriving from countries with an unfavorable epidemiological situation would be hospitalized if they showed an elevated temperature or other signs of deteriorating health.

“The entire system is in place to ensure that we face no risks. And, of course, we have strengthened controls at the border,” Popova stressed.

She also thanked border service personnel for maintaining stringent controls and providing information on all arriving passengers, including those traveling in transit from countries where there is a risk of infection.
