A man is missing after an aluminium boat carrying five people capsized in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region, the regional Emergency Situations Ministry said.
The incident occurred on September 12 near the village of Zhanaul, when the boat overturned on the Irtysh River. Four people managed to escape, while a man born in 1983 is presumed to have drowned, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.
Six rescuers from the emergency response team, three boats and two echo sounders are taking part in the search operation.
Over the past two days, rescuers have used sonar to survey approximately 35 kilometres of the Irtysh riverbed. Divers have also conducted 11 dives and searched an area of around 5,000 square metres.
The search operation is continuing.
