Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan may visit Syria in the near future, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad al-Shaibani, in Damascus.
“Our president’s visit to Syria is planned for the near future. He has long wanted to make such a trip. We are working to create the conditions for this visit,” Fidan noted.
According to the Turkish foreign minister, during his current contacts in Damascus, he was briefed on the work of a high-level group tasked with preparing for Erdogan’s visit.
“In this regard, my current trip is important,” Fidan added.
The minister did not provide a specific date for Erdoğan’s visit to Syria.
