Yemeni government forces say they have engaged in heavy clashes with Houthi fighters on the al-Kadaha front in al-Ma’afer district, southwest of Taiz.
The internationally recognised Yemeni government, which is based in Aden, has accused the Houthis of seeking to impose a blockade on the country and halt its oil exports, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The Houthis have made similar accusations against the government, which is backed by a Saudi-led international coalition.
Fighting in Yemen has intensified in recent weeks, with government forces reporting hundreds of military operations against the Houthis.
Exchanges of fire and drone attacks have been reported along much of the country's largely frozen front line.
