Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen a “Fuhrer” and accused her of trying to bring Europe back to Nazism.
According to ASTRA, Lavrov said von der Leyen was seeking to centralise powers within the European Commission that, he argued, had remained with national governments.
He also criticised her position on the loss of Russian gas supplies and higher energy prices following the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Lavrov said that if restrictions on the use of the Russian language in education, culture, everyday life and the media represented European values, “Europe” should return to Nazism.
