Moscow authorities said air defences had intercepted another wave of drones approaching the Russian capital, bringing the reported number of unmanned aerial vehicles destroyed in the Moscow area to 61.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the Russian Defence Ministry’s air-defence systems had destroyed 17 drones that were heading toward the capital.
Emergency service specialists have been deployed at locations where drone debris fell, according to the authorities.
The Moscow government said the combined number of drones destroyed in the area around the capital had reached 61. All of the interceptions were reported in the vicinity of the city, with authorities saying there was no immediate threat to infrastructure or residents.
Specialist emergency teams are working at sites where fragments of the drones were found to assess the situation, secure the affected areas and document the consequences of the incidents.
Operational teams are coordinating the response to mitigate risks associated with potentially hazardous debris and other dangerous fragments scattered at the sites.
