US-led international coalition air defence forces shot down 10 explosive-laden Iranian drones in the airspace over Erbil province in Iraqi Kurdistan, the region’s Counter-Terrorism Directorate has said.
Officials stated that operations to intercept and destroy aerial targets were carried out early in the morning, and no one was injured as a result of the attacks, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Earlier, a representative of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the country’s elite military force, confirmed that a combined missile and drone attack had targeted US bases in Erbil.
According to the IRGC, the attack destroyed a repair centre and storage facilities for US military technical equipment.
The IRGC also claimed that the guidance system of a US spy balloon was disabled.
