Azerbaijan and China have explored opportunities for new cooperation in the energy sector, including potential oil and gas and renewable energy projects in the Caspian Sea.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Zhang Chuanjiang, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The sides praised the continued development of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China, noting that expanding cooperation across various sectors is opening new opportunities in the energy field.
They also emphasized the importance of agreements and other bilateral documents aimed at further strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting reviewed existing cooperation between Azerbaijani and Chinese companies in the energy sector, while the sides exchanged views on expanding partnerships and developing new joint projects.
CNOOC representatives expressed interest in participating in energy projects currently being implemented in Azerbaijan, signaling potential for deeper Chinese involvement in the country’s energy sector.
