Azerbaijan will acquire two mine detection dogs to support ongoing demining efforts, the Azerbaijan Campaign Against Landmines Public Union has said.
The agency noted that the initiative is being carried out with financial support from the Embassy of Canada in Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia as part of a new project titled Accelerating Mine Clearance Through Mine Detection Dogs, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The project seeks to prevent further mine-related casualties in liberated territories and accelerate demining for agricultural and infrastructure projects.
The dogs will undergo procedures in accordance with international standards before being deployed in demining operations conducted by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA).
