Azerbaijan's National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) cleared 7,568.9 hectares of land of mines and unexploded ordnance across the country's liberated territories in August, according to the agency's latest monthly demining report.

Demining teams operating in July across the districts of Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Gazakh, and Zangilan, as well as the city of Khankendi, detected and neutralised 514 anti-personnel mines, 121 anti-tank mines, and 2,724 pieces of unexploded ordnance.

The humanitarian challenge remains substantial. ANAMA says that more than 3,500 people have been recorded as mine victims in Azerbaijan since 1991. For the period from the beginning of November 2020 to August 21, 2026, the agency recorded 437 mine victims.
