Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa discussed the current state of and future prospects for bilateral relations during a phone call, the Kremlin said.


The two leaders expressed readiness to deepen political dialogue and expand cooperation in economic, humanitarian and other areas.


Putin reaffirmed Moscow’s support for Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty, according to the Kremlin. The sides also emphasized the importance of further developing trade and economic ties.


The Russian and Syrian leaders also discussed the significance of a memorandum concerning the reorganization of Russia’s Khmeimim air base and its logistics facility in Tartus.
