Italy will not participate in the “coalition of the willing” military exercises that France plans to hold in October-November 2026, La Repubblica reports, citing sources in the Italian government.
The newspaper said the decision is in line with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s position opposing the deployment of Italian troops to Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced the exercise format on August 24.
