The Israeli military said it carried out a strike targeting two Hamas militants in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, killing one of the men identified as a member of the group’s Nukhba special forces unit.
According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), Mohammed Abd al-Nasser Jabr Abu Asaad, who allegedly infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7, 2023 attack, was killed in the strike, Caliber.Az reports.
The IDF said the targeted militants had been planning attacks against Israeli military personnel and civilians and were attempting to rebuild Hamas’s operational capabilities in violation of the ceasefire.
The Israeli military did not provide further details about the second militant.
The strike came after the IDF carried out another operation in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, targeting the commander of a Nukhba special forces platoon, according to the military.
