The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum represented the country at the 40th Annual Festival of Folk Arts in Budapest for the second consecutive year.
The museum’s stand showcased Azerbaijan’s traditional carpet-weaving and kelaghayi crafts, both of which are included on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Festival visitors took part in carpet-weaving and kelaghayi master classes, learning about traditional production techniques and the meanings behind the distinctive patterns and colours used in the crafts.
The stand also featured examples of Azerbaijani carpets and kelaghayi, along with books highlighting the history and cultural significance of the traditions.
The museum participated in the festival with the support of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the Azerbaijan House in Hungary.
