ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 24. The Kurultai
election held on Aug. 23, 2026, was conducted in accordance with
international electoral standards.


Osman Mesten, chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs
and International Relations, a member of Türkiye's Grand National
Assembly and head of the mission, made the remarks at a briefing,
Trend's special
correspondent in Astana reports.


He said the TURKPA mission monitored the election in the cities
of Astana and Almaty.


"Polling stations opened at 7 a.m. and closed at 8 p.m. Overall,
the election was conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner. The
mission noted that the first parliamentary election held under the
country's new constitutional system reflects the constitutional and
political changes taking place in Kazakhstan," Mesten said.


He emphasized that the mission highly rated the preparation and
conduct of the election by electoral authorities, as well as the
activities of participants in the electoral process throughout the
observation period.


"The mission also noted the positive role of established quotas
and other legislative provisions aimed at expanding the
participation of women, young people and people with disabilities
in the electoral process and the country's political life," he
said.







The mission found that voting at the polling stations it
observed was conducted in an orderly manner. Voters were able to
freely express their choices without interference.


According to Mesten, the observed polling stations also provided
conditions for quick and orderly voting.


"The mission positively assessed the measures taken to
facilitate the participation of voters with disabilities in the
electoral process. These measures are viewed as an important step
toward ensuring democratic participation and the effective exercise
of citizens' electoral rights.


The legal framework provided for international election
observation in the Republic of Kazakhstan was also positively
noted.


The mission concluded that the Kurultai election held on Aug.
23, 2026, was conducted in accordance with international electoral
standards," Mesten said.
