BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 18. Kazakhstan is
launching the Qazaq AI Research University, a specialized research
university focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and operating
under the AI Enabled University status, the country's government
reported.
The initiative is being implemented on the instructions of
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, First Vice Minister of
Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Rostislav
Konyashkin said at a government meeting.
"Qazaq AI Research University is a specialized research
university in the field of artificial intelligence with the special
status of an AI Enabled University. The university operates under
the AI+X model, which involves training specialists in various
professional fields, with AI integrated into the curriculum for
each specialty," Konyashkin said.
He noted that students will study not only AI technologies but
also their practical application in specific professional
fields.
As part of its international cooperation, the university is
establishing partnerships with specialized centers and universities
in China, the UAE and Finland. An international AI learning
platform is also planned to be established to scale educational
programs and attract international students.
Meanwhile, starting from the new academic year, schools in
Kazakhstan will pay food service providers exclusively based on
verified data from the Social Wallet digital system, Konyashkin
noted.
"The Social Wallet information system digitizes social services.
During the 2025-2026 academic year, 149 million free hot meals were
provided through the system, while 1.6 million digital vouchers
were activated," he said.
Starting this academic year, school payments for meal services
will be made only based on verified data from the system. "By
September 1, it is necessary to ensure the preparation of lists and
the required readiness," Konyashkin added.
