BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Overall
construction progress of the Gas Separation Complex (GSC) in
Kazakhstan's Atyrau region has exceeded 22%.
This was announced by the press service of KazMunayGas
(KMG).
According to KazMunayGas, active construction and installation
works are underway at the GSC site, with piling remaining a key
area.
''Of the total 29,500 piles required for the project, 16,545
have been driven to date. Preparations for the foundations for the
next stage of construction are also underway,'' the press service
adds.
Concrete works are being carried out on foundations for process
equipment and pipeline racks. A total of 4,509 cubic meters of
concrete has been laid so far.
Construction of warehouse infrastructure is also ongoing, with
materials being delivered to the site for the construction of a
canteen, training center and medical facility.
Particular attention is being paid to developing local content,
including by involving Kazakh companies in construction works,
services and the supply of goods. More than 2,500 people are
currently involved in the construction of the GSC, with Kazakh
citizens accounting for 97% of the workforce.
"The GSC project will become an important step in the
development of Kazakhstan's oil and gas chemical industry, allowing
part of the produced gas to be directed toward deeper processing
domestically. The complex will be capable of processing up to 9.1
billion cubic meters of dry gas per year and will provide the
Sileno polyethylene plant with the necessary feedstock - up to 1.6
million tons of ethane per year. In addition, up to 360,000 tons of
propane will be produced," KMG said.
The project is expected to create new opportunities for the
development of industry and small and medium-sized businesses,
while also contributing to an increase in the share of value-added
products.
