BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Uzbekistan’s
Uzmetkombinat is expanding cooperation with Toshiba and Sieyuan
Electric’s joint venture, Changzhou Sieyuan Toshiba Transformer
Co., Ltd., as part of efforts to modernize its energy
infrastructure and improve the reliability of power supply.
This was reflected in the statement by Uzmetkombinat following
the delegation's business trip to China, during which it reviewed
the production, assembly, and testing processes of high-voltage
power transformers and examined the advanced technologies employed
by the country.
According to Uzmetkombinat, the talks focused on modernizing the
company’s transformer facilities, improving the reliability and
efficiency of existing equipment, and introducing Battery Energy
Storage Systems (BESS).
BESS technologies allow companies to better manage peak
electricity demand, strengthen power supply stability, and improve
the efficient use of energy resources.
“During the meeting, the parties agreed to develop joint
technical and economic solutions for transformer modernization and
the implementation of BESS systems, as well as continue
cooperation,” Uzmetkombinat said.
The cooperation comes as Uzbekistan’s major industrial
enterprises seek to improve energy efficiency and strengthen
infrastructure reliability amid growing electricity demand.
The introduction of modern transformer equipment and energy
storage systems could help Uzmetkombinat optimize electricity
consumption, reduce operational risks, and support the stable
operation of its production facilities.
Changzhou Sieyuan Toshiba Transformer Co., Ltd., a joint venture
between Toshiba and Sieyuan Electric, specializes in the production
of high-voltage transformers and related energy solutions.
The visit marked another step in Uzmetkombinat’s broader
modernization strategy, which includes attracting advanced
technologies, improving industrial efficiency, and developing a
more resilient energy system to support future production
expansion.
