BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Pakistan Prime
Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to pay a state visit to
Kazakhstan.
This was stated by the press service of the Kazakh
president.
The upcoming visit was highlighted by Kazakh President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a congratulatory message to Pakistan’s
leadership on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day.
“The President of our country also emphasized that he looks
forward to the upcoming state visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz
Sharif to Astana, which will give new impetus to interaction
between our countries,” the statement said.
In his messages, Tokayev highlighted Pakistan’s significant
achievements on the path of sustainable development and reaffirmed
Kazakhstan’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening
cooperation across a broad range of bilateral and international
issues.
The planned visit comes after Tokayev paid a state visit to
Pakistan on February 3–4, 2026.
During the visit, Tokayev and Shehbaz Sharif signed a Joint
Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between
the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of
Pakistan.
Nearly two dozen documents were also signed during the visit,
covering a wide range of areas, including economic cooperation,
transport, trade and security.
Among them were a Memorandum of Cooperation in Mining and
Geological Sciences, a Memorandum of Understanding on the Joint
Deployment of Peacekeeping Units in UN Missions, an Extradition
Treaty, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of
Transport of Kazakhstan and Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime
Affairs, and an Agreement on Transit Trade between the two
countries’ trade ministries.
