BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 13. As much as 2.3
billion manat ($1.3 billion) worth of gasoline and diesel fuel was
sold to consumers through Azerbaijan’s retail network from January
through July of this year.
This is according to data from the State Statistics
Committee.
According to the information, this figure is 4.9% higher than
during the same period in 2025.
In the period from January through July 2026, goods worth 38.4
billion manat ($22.5 billion) were sold to consumers through the
retail network, including food, beverages, and tobacco products
worth 20.8 billion manat ($12.2 billion), and non-food goods worth
17.5 billion manat ($10.3 billion).
Compared to the same period last year, retail trade turnover
grew by 3.8% in real terms, with sales of food, beverages, and
tobacco products increasing by 1.4% and sales of non-food goods by
6.6%.
In the first seven month of 2026, 50.0% of the funds spent by
consumers in the retail sector on goods went toward food, 4.3%
toward beverages and tobacco products, 12.5% toward textiles,
clothing, and footwear, 6.1% on automotive fuel, 4.8% on electrical
goods and furniture, 2.8% on pharmaceutical products and medical
supplies, 1.4% on computers, telecommunications equipment, and
printed materials, and 18.1% on other non-food goods.
Over the reporting period, the average monthly expenditure per
person in the retail network was 533.6 manat ($313.9), including
290.0 manat ($170.6) on food, beverages, and tobacco products, and
243.6 manat on non-food items.
