BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. The customs
authorities of Azerbaijan and Türkiye discussed ways to streamline
customs procedures and ensure more convenient and faster cargo
transportation along the Middle Corridor.
This was announced by the press service of the State Customs
Committee of Azerbaijan, following the meeting with a Turkish
delegation led by Yaşar Baltacı, Deputy Head of the General
Directorate of Customs Protection.
During the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the
level of cooperation between the customs authorities of the two
countries, the joint projects currently underway, and the ongoing
efforts to study and exchange best practices.
In addition, the prospects for cooperation aimed at expediting
transit shipments were discussed.
As part of the visit, delegation members also visited the
Academy of the State Customs Committee, the Main Directorate of Air
Transport Customs, and the Canine Training Center.
The delegation members reviewed scientific research and
institutional approaches in the field of customs. They were
provided with detailed information on the activities of customs
authorities in the field of canine operations, as well as on the
organization of customs control in air transport.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on strengthening
cooperation in combating customs-related offenses, risk management,
and countering smuggling and illicit drug trafficking.
