BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. On August 8, 2026,
Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan called
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Azerbaijan.
During the phone conversation, the sides exchanged views on the
occasion of the first anniversary of the August 8, 2025 Washington
Peace Summit held with the support of U.S. President Donald Trump,
which established peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as
the initialling of the text of the Peace Agreement between the
Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.
The sides particularly noted the important role played by
President Donald Trump and the Government of the United States of
America in advancing the peace process.
The sides noted the progress achieved over the past year in the
normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The conversation highlighted the development of trade and
economic ties between the two countries as a tangible manifestation
of the benefits of peace. In this context, the sides noted the
export of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia, as well as the
transportation of transit cargo through the territory of Azerbaijan
to Armenia and from Armenia to other destinations.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on the implementation of
the TRIPP route in line with the understandings reached in
Washington.
The sides emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to
advance the peace process and ensure lasting peace, stability,
connectivity, and economic cooperation in the region.
