BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Uzbekistan and the
United States discussed the current state and future prospects of
bilateral relations.
This was reflected in the statement by the Senate of Oliy Majlis
of Uzbekistan following a meeting between First Deputy Chairman of
the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodiq Safoyev and U.S. Assistant
Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Sameer Paul
Kapur.
The talks focused on expanding cooperation across a range of
areas, with both sides noting that the partnership between
Uzbekistan and the United States has reached a new stage in recent
years.
The participants emphasized the importance of making full use of
existing opportunities to further strengthen mutually beneficial
cooperation and deepen bilateral engagement.
Kapur praised Uzbekistan's ongoing economic reform agenda,
highlighting the country's efforts to modernize its economy and
improve the investment climate.
"The large-scale economic reforms being carried out in
Uzbekistan, as well as the country's policy of strengthening
good-neighborly relations, mutual trust, and regional cooperation
in Central Asia, deserve high praise," Kapur said during the
meeting.
Safoyev also briefed the U.S. delegation on the activities of
Uzbekistan's parliament, outlining the role of the Oliy Majlis in
the country's political system and its contribution to advancing
legislative reforms in support of the government's modernization
agenda.
The meeting underscored the two countries' commitment to
maintaining regular political dialogue and expanding cooperation on
issues of mutual interest.
