EAEU to focus on AI and logistics under Kazakhstan’s chairmanship

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. The Eurasian
Economic Union (EAEU) will focus on developing artificial
intelligence, creating logistics hubs and digitalizing industry and
agriculture as part of Kazakhstan’s priorities during its
chairmanship, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said.

According to the press service of Kazakh government, he made the
remark at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in
Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting in a restricted format was held under Kazakhstan’s
chairmanship and brought together the heads of government of EAEU
member states, including the prime ministers of Armenia, Belarus
and Russia, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of
the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan, as well as the
Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“Within the framework of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the bodies
of the Eurasian Economic Union, we consistently advocate the
development of artificial intelligence, the creation of logistics
hubs, the digitalization of industry and the agro-industrial
complex, ensuring barrier-free trade and building global dialogue
with external partners,” Bektenov said.

According to him, these priorities were outlined by Kazakhstan’s
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his address to the leaders of
EAEU member states. The participants discussed measures aimed at
maintaining macroeconomic stability, increasing the economic
potential of the region, expanding mutual trade and removing
barriers within the EAEU market.

The meeting agenda also included food security and the
development of trade and economic cooperation with major external
partners of the union. Bektenov highlighted the importance of a new
financial support mechanism in agriculture, which was signed by the
heads of EAEU countries at the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council
meeting in Astana in May.

According to the Kazakh Prime Minister, the mechanism will help
sustain agricultural production growth, expand mutual trade and
encourage joint cooperation projects among member states. “I am
confident that the agreements reached following our meeting will
make a significant contribution to achieving the set goals and
further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation within the
EAEU,” Bektenov said.

The work of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will continue
in an expanded format.
