BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Turkmen logistics
company Hazar Logistik held talks with a delegation from
Afghanistan's Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment on expanding
trade and transit cooperation.
This was reflected in a statement published by the company.
"The sides discussed key issues related to the development of
trade and economic ties, as well as prospects for expanding
logistics and transit routes between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan,"
the statement said.
According to the company, the meeting took place at Hazar
Logistik's office in Ashgabat and focused on opportunities to
strengthen bilateral cooperation in transport and logistics.
The participants also exchanged views on further developing
commercial relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Hazar
Logistik said it expects the agreements reached during the meeting
to support long-term cooperation between the two sides.
Turkmenistan remains one of Afghanistan's key economic and
transit partners, with cooperation centered on transport
connectivity, energy supplies and cross-border trade. In recent
years, the two countries have expanded the use of the Turgundi and
Aqina railway crossings, which connect Afghanistan with
Turkmenistan's rail network and provide access to Caspian Sea ports
and broader international transport corridors. Ashgabat has also
continued advancing regional infrastructure initiatives involving
Afghanistan, including the TAPI gas pipeline, cross-border power
transmission projects and logistics development aimed at
strengthening east-west and north-south trade routes.
Herat, Afghanistan's largest commercial hub in the west of the
country, plays a central role in bilateral trade with Turkmenistan.
The province serves as a gateway for imports and exports moving
through the Turkmen border, making business engagement between
logistics operators and commercial organizations from both sides an
important component of efforts to facilitate regional trade and
improve supply chain connectivity.
