BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Uzbekistan's
Ohangaron district and China's Jiangsu Yiershi Group discussed
plans for a $30 million investment project to manufacture
electrical equipment.
This was reflected in the statement by the Tahkent Regional
Administration.
The project was reviewed during a meeting between Ohangaron
District Governor Bahrom Norqobilov and representatives of the
Chinese company.
According to the administration, the proposed facility would
produce a range of electrical products, including high- and
low-voltage switchgear, transformer substations, power distribution
equipment and modern components for renewable energy systems.
"The parties agreed to continue cooperation and review
alternative land plots for the implementation of the project," the
regional administration said in a statement.
During the meeting, local officials presented Ohangaron's
investment potential and business environment, emphasizing the
district's readiness to provide the necessary support for the
project's implementation.
The discussions also focused on identifying suitable sites for
the planned manufacturing facility and advancing the project toward
the implementation stage.
If realized, the investment would strengthen Uzbekistan's
electrical equipment manufacturing capacity while supporting the
country's efforts to expand production linked to power
infrastructure and renewable energy development.
The proposed project reflects Uzbekistan's broader strategy of
attracting foreign direct investment into high-value manufacturing,
promoting industrial localization and expanding domestic production
of equipment for the rapidly growing energy sector.
