Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Ukraine's ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna, according to a presidential decree published on August 3.
Stefanishyna had served in the role for nearly a year, and her departure had been anticipated for several weeks.
The move comes amid a broader reshuffle of senior Ukrainian officials, including the recent replacement of the prime minister and defence minister. Further changes to Ukraine's diplomatic corps and ambassadorial appointments are also expected.
In a post on Facebook, Stefanishyna said leaving the position was "my own decision, driven by personal circumstances," adding that she believed she had achieved significant results during her tenure, Reuters reports.
"We boosted the supply of American weapons and maintained support right when the political climate in Washington was changing and not in our favour," she wrote.
Ukraine's public broadcaster Suspilne reported last week that Stefanishyna had told reporters in Washington that President Zelenskyy had not asked her to resign.
In her Facebook statement, Stefanishyna also said she would respond to questions that had emerged in the media regarding her departure.
Ukrainian media reported that she informed President Zelenskyy of her intention to step down last month. The reports also referred to ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in her asset declarations.
