Azerbaijani officials visited cemeteries in the Kalbajar district on Monday (August 3) to assess damage caused during the period of occupation and discuss plans for their restoration, according to the State Committee for Work with Religious Organisations.
According to Caliber.Az, Bashir Hajiyev, the Azerbaijani president's special representative for the Kalbajar district, and Ramin Mammadov, chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organisations, inspected the current condition of cemeteries that the authorities said had been subjected to vandalism during the occupation.
The officials reviewed planned restoration and landscaping work and discussed measures to preserve historical and cultural heritage sites in the area, the committee said.
During the visit, Hajiyev and Mammadov also met residents of the Kalbajar district.
