BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3. Prime Minister of
Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and President of ExxonMobil Upstream Dan
Ammann discussed the company’s ongoing projects in Kazakhstan’s oil
and gas sector and prospects for expanding investment
cooperation.
According to the press service of Kazakh governmetn, during the
meeting, Bektenov highlighted ExxonMobil’s contribution to the
development of Kazakhstan’s energy industry and emphasized the
government’s interest in strengthening mutually beneficial
cooperation with the company.
The talks focused on the implementation of existing joint
projects, potential new areas of cooperation, the introduction of
advanced technologies, improving operational efficiency and
expanding geological exploration activities.
"Dan Ammann presented ExxonMobil's plans for future operations
in Kazakhstan and confirmed the company's intention to maintain a
long-term presence in the country's oil and gas industry," the
statement of the government says.
The parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation
across key areas of the energy industry and further develop
investment ties.
ExxonMobil remains a partner in Kazakhstan's largest energy
assets, including the Tengiz and Kashagan oil fields, as well as
the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. For reference, ExxonMobil has
operated in Kazakhstan since 1993 and is among the country's
largest foreign investors in the oil and gas sector. The company
holds interests in the Tengizchevroil consortium, the North Caspian
Project and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, making it one of the
key international partners in Kazakhstan's upstream and export
infrastructure.
Earlier Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and ExxonMobil Senior
Vice President Peter Larden had a discussion in Astana related to
production performance and technological cooperation across their
joint energy projects. "The sides noted the productive nature of
cooperation and reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen
partnership," the government said. According to the government, the
talks focused on current production indicators and the further
technological development of joint projects.
