Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud urged US President Donald Trump to refrain from carrying out strikes on Iran, Axios reports, citing two US officials and a third source with knowledge of the call.
According to an unnamed official, bin Salman expressed concern during a phone call with the US president over Trump's plans to launch large-scale strikes against Iran.
"The Saudis expressed concern and asked for clarity about the plan of action," one US official told Axios.
Saudi Arabia, one of Washington's closest allies in the Middle East, has influenced President Donald Trump's Iran policy at several critical junctures since the war began, despite periodic tensions in bilateral ties over the past five months.
