Ukraine has submitted a proposal to Poland to exchange drones for Polish MiG-29 fighter jets, according to Poland's Deputy Minister of Defence, Paulina Sobkowiak-Czarnecka
Speaking at a press briefing on July 30, Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said Kyiv had presented Warsaw with a "specific proposal" under which Poland would transfer the fighter aircraft in return for drones supplied by Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports per Polish media.
She added that the Polish government is "not yet discussing" a scenario in which Warsaw would finance the modernisation of the MiG-29 jets before any transfer.
"A specific response from Ukraine regarding which drones they can provide in exchange for the MiG aircraft has been on the table for several days now," she said.
Sobkowiak-Czarnecka also addressed reports that Bulgaria is interested in acquiring Poland's MiG-29s, saying negotiations over the aircraft had originally begun with Ukraine.
She said Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz would make a decision after reviewing Kyiv's proposal.
According to the deputy minister, a decision is expected soon, adding that the matter should be resolved within "a few weeks at most."
