NATO and Poland activated ground- and air-based air defence systems after an object entered Polish airspace, a spokesperson for NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) has said.
The official noted that the alliance remains in close contact with the Polish authorities regarding the violation of the country's airspace, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
According to him, NATO "will take all necessary measures to protect the territory" of its member states.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the object as a Russian missile.
Following the incident, Tusk said Warsaw is considering a new military aid package for Ukraine, including Patriot missiles.
