Russia and Ukraine have issued competing accounts following a large-scale wave of overnight strikes, detailing drone interceptions, missile attacks and damage across multiple regions.


Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defence systems destroyed 258 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over several regions, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Volgograd, Penza, Rostov and Tambov, as well as Krasnodar Territory and the republic of Adygea. Drones were also intercepted over the Azov and Black seas.


The ministry said Russian forces also carried out a “massive strike” on Ukrainian territory, targeting telecommunications centres, military airfields, defence industry facilities and logistics hubs. It named sites in Kyiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne and Dnipropetrovsk regions, including the Mayak Plant, the Electrotechnical Plant, the Lviv Aircraft Repair Plant “LDARZ,” the LORTA state plant, SKB OVT, NEFTEMASH, Rivneazot and the Kryvyi Rih Turbofan Plant “Aquaplast.” According to the ministry, these facilities were involved “in the production, storage and delivery of missile weapons of various types and UAVs.”


Russia also said it struck a bulk carrier in the port of Yuzhny and two more bulk carriers east and south of Odesa that were transporting weapons and military equipment.


Ukraine, meanwhile, said Russia launched 358 aerial weapons overnight — 74 missiles and 284 drones of various types. These included four anti-ship missiles Zircon/Oniks, nine ballistic missiles Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23, 61 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kalibr and 284 strike UAVs.


Ukraine’s air force said 320 targets were shot down or suppressed, including 55 missiles and 265 drones. Among them were one ballistic missile Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23, 54 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kalibr and 265 UAVs.


Ukrainian authorities reported confirmed impacts from three anti-ship missiles, six ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles and 17 drones across 20 locations, with debris from intercepted targets falling at 13 sites. The status of eight missiles remains under clarification.


Earlier reports said the large-scale Russian attack resulted in fatalities and dozens of injuries in Ukraine.
