The White House administration has published materials claiming to confirm the laboratory origin of the Chinese COVID-19 virus. A dedicated webpage was created on the White House website on July 29.

The documents published on the White House website also state that, by existing scientific standards, evidence supporting a natural origin of COVID-19 would have already been made public if it existed. However, this has not happened, according to the report.

The authors of the report argue that Wuhan is home to China’s leading laboratory for research into atypical pneumonia. The facility conducted gain-of-function research involving the modification of viruses while operating with insufficient biosafety standards. The materials further claim that employees of the Wuhan Institute of Virology developed symptoms of illness in autumn 2019, several months before the virus was officially detected at the food market.

The published documents state that the corporation EcoHealth Alliance, led by Peter Daszak, used US taxpayer funds to support virus modification research in Wuhan.

Following the discovery of alleged violations of the conditions of a government grant, the US Department of Health and Human Services began proceedings to withdraw funding. The US Department of Justice is currently investigating EcoHealth’s activities during the pandemic.
