Kīlauea, one of Hawaii's largest and most active volcanoes, has erupted, according to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory of the US Geological Survey.
The observatory said lava fountains from the volcano's vent have reached heights of up to 110 meters (360 feet), Caliber.Az reports.
“The north fountain has dropped to about 350 feet (110 meters) in height after 5 hours of eruption. The UWD tiltmeter has recorded about 11 microradians of deflation so far equaling an eruptive volume of 4.5 million cubic yards (3.5 mcm),” the report noted.
