Ukraine's Acting Defence Minister Yevhen Khmara has said he wants to end the war before his sons reach military conscription age.

In an interview with American journalist Laura Loomer, Khmara noted that the war must stop so that his children can build Ukraine rather than fight for it, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.

“I want to end the war before my sons reach draft age, so they can build Ukraine rather than fight for it,” he remarked.

Khmara's sons are currently 9 and 11 years old. Under Ukrainian law, men become eligible for mobilisation at the age of 25.
