At least 109 people have been killed and 362 injured in Pakistan as a result of heavy monsoon rains and related incidents since June 26, the country’s National Disaster Management Authority said.
The worst-affected area has been the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 55 people have died. In eastern Punjab province, authorities reported 36 fatalities.
Floodwaters have damaged around 800 buildings nationwide, including more than 200 that were completely destroyed, according to official data.
Since late June, emergency services have conducted 148 rescue operations, saving approximately 4,000 people.
Pakistan’s monsoon season, which typically runs from June through September, brings rainfall essential for agriculture but frequently triggers flooding and other disasters.
