Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had struck three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement carried by the Tasnim news agency.
The statement said the IRGC Navy continues to maintain full control over the strategic waterway, Caliber.Az reports.
"Several hours ago, three oil tankers that violated regulations and continued sailing along a dangerous and unlawful route despite our warnings were struck and brought to a halt," the corps noted.
The IRGC also warned that what it described as the US military's unlawful interference in regional maritime activities, including its orders and restrictions imposed on vessels, "will not go unanswered."
