Azerbaijan and Greece have discussed expanding regular direct air services as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, according to the Greek Embassy in Azerbaijan.


The issue was raised during a meeting between Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Maria Papakonstantinou and Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev, Caliber.Az reports, citing domestic media.


The two sides highlighted the importance of maintaining the direct Baku–Heraklion route, which has been operating for a second consecutive year.


According to the embassy, establishing regular direct flights between Azerbaijan and Greece would represent an important step toward enhancing tourism, economic cooperation and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
