U.S. President Donald Trump has thanked Morocco's King Mohammed VI after reports that a major highway in the country had been named in his honour.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Thank you to Highly Respected Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco — Such a Great Honor! I look forward to traveling the entire length of this Great Highway someday, hopefully soon!”

The post included a video stating that "under the visionary leadership of King Mohammed VI and thanks to the historic courage of President Donald Trump, the Moroccan Sahara has entered a new era of peace and prosperity." The video also described the Tiznit–Dakhla motorway as the latest example of cooperation between Morocco and the United States.

The Tiznit–Dakhla motorway stretches 1,055 kilometres and was built at a cost of approximately $1 billion.
