Iraq has accused Ukraine of violating its sovereignty, with the country's national security adviser claiming that Ukrainian intelligence units have conducted attacks on Iraqi territory.

Qasim al-Abudi, Iraq's national security adviser to the president, said Ukrainian intelligence operatives had carried out attacks in Iraq and attributed them to resistance groups. He added that "certain individuals" had been arrested in connection with the alleged activities but provided no further details, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media

The accusation comes days after Iran claimed that Ukraine struck an Iranian merchant vessel in the Caspian Sea.

On July 25, Iran's Foreign Ministry said the attack killed one crew member and announced that it had summoned Ukraine's chargé d'affaires over the incident. The ministry said Iran would "resolutely defend its national security and interests" in response to what it described as a violation of its sovereignty.
