France's Agriculture Minister, Annie Genevard, has said that an exceptional heatwave has led to a decline in the country's milk and vegetable production.

According to Russian media, Genevard said the vegetable sector has experienced a sharp drop in output, raising concerns about its ability to supply produce during the coming autumn and winter seasons.

"There has been a steep decline in vegetable production, and there are serious questions about our ability to ensure supplies for the next season, namely the coming autumn and winter. A significant reduction in production is also being recorded in the dairy sector," she said.

The minister added that poultry has also been affected by the extreme heat, noting that birds are particularly vulnerable to such high temperatures.
