Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he plans to discuss Iran and other key issues during his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
"I am heading to Washington to meet with President Trump. This will be my eighth meeting with him since he was elected to a second term as president of the United States.
From my experience as prime minister, I know that in these challenging times we must act with great determination and great wisdom. We will discuss the entire agenda, first and foremost Iran," Netanyahu wrote on X.
Divergences between Netanyahu and Trump on Iran strategy have widened during the ongoing conflict, with the Israeli leader seeking maximalist outcomes like full nuclear dismantlement, missile limits, and unrestricted military freedom while Trump prioritises a quicker end to hostilities, Strait of Hormuz reopening, and a narrower diplomatic deal to limit economic and political costs.
Earlier coordination on joint strikes has given way to friction over Israeli actions in energy targets and Lebanon that risked disrupting US-Iran talks, prompting Trump to assert control and criticise Netanyahu’s judgment.
