Nine people were injured after a lightning strike at Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia, the capital of Venezuela's Carabobo state.
During a tropical rainstorm, lightning struck a grassy area on the airport grounds. The injured included four members of the Bolivarian National Guard and five employees of airport service companies, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
All received medical treatment, and their conditions were reported to be stable. No aircraft parked at the airport were damaged.
Valencia's international airport has been serving as a key hub for international flights after Simón Bolívar International Airport, which was damaged in the June 24 earthquake, was closed to commercial air traffic.
