Iran's armed forces inflicted more than $20 billion in damage on the US military during the two-week military confrontation in July, Tasnim reports, citing an analysis by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of destroyed and damaged US military equipment.
According to the agency, the estimates were based on the replacement cost of comparable equipment as reflected in Pentagon defense contracts and budget documents.
Tasnim said the largest share of the estimated losses involved US air defense systems and radar equipment, totaling approximately $7.5 billion.
Damage to logistics facilities, warehouses and infrastructure was estimated at $6.8 billion, while losses to aircraft — including fixed-wing aircraft, drones and helicopters — were put at $3.5 billion. Command and communications centers accounted for an estimated $2.8 billion in damage.
The IRGC's assessment, cited by the agency, claims the alleged losses include four Patriot air defense systems, six Patriot radar units, two F-15 fighter jets, one P-8 maritime patrol aircraft, one C-17 transport aircraft, eight aerial refueling aircraft, 17 drones, 17 ammunition depots, six missile storage facilities, and dozens of command, radar and logistics centers.
