Romania's Foreign Ministry has summoned the Russian ambassador after the Romanian Air Force shot down a third drone that violated the country's airspace in the past three days.

The announcement was made by Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu in a statement published on the ministry's official Facebook page. According to the statement, the diplomatic protest will be based on the findings of the ongoing investigations.

Țoiu said it was "unacceptable and intolerable" for Romania's airspace, which is part of both NATO and the European Union, to be violated by Russia.

"Such actions are unacceptable, and together with our allies we are treating them with the utmost seriousness," the statement said.
