Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has accused the European Union of hypocrisy after EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced new sanctions against Iranian officials over alleged human rights violations.
Baqaei questioned how the EU could claim to be concerned about human rights in Iran while, in his view, providing logistical and technical support for what he described as lethal attacks against the Iranian people and critical infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports.

Baqaei described the EU’s position as a loss of credibility and “the banality of evil,” calling it the “purest form of hypocrisy,” in a post on X.
His remarks came in response to Kallas’s announcement that the EU had imposed new restrictive measures on Iranian judges accused of serious human rights violations and on a leading figure linked to a cyber group allegedly involved in the repression of information.
